Last updated on 19/1/2025 – FOR A MORE UP-TO-DATE LIST PLEASE NOW GO TO MY 26TH JANUARY 2025 EDITION WHICH CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://alanbullockcareers.com/2025/01/26/degree-higher-apprenticeships-my-latest-2025-employer-list-26th-january-edition-with-ongoing-updates/
Since 1st September 2024 the following employers have opened their application windows for degree, professional or higher apprenticeship positions that commence in (or around) September 2025 and that are relevant to school and college leavers in England and Wales at 18+. The list includes everything I’ve picked up on my radar so far at Levels 4, 5, 6 or 7, plus a provisional list of some other employers to look out for.
Closing dates for some of these positions have already been reached, but many are still open. Some of these say they will close when enough applications have been received, but most give a specific closing date. Once employers have closed for applications, I still keep them on the list because my objective has been to create an overview of annual school/college-leaver recruiters broken down broadly by occupational area.
It’s important to emphasise that some of the listed employers only offer one vacancy in one location, while some have multiple vacancies in one location, some have one vacancy in multiple locations and some have multiple vacancies in multiple locations. Meanwhile, the legal sector has a somewhat distinctive pattern of its own, with many of the law firms on my list only offering one or two vacancies at one or two locations, although some of the larger firms may offer three to five vacancies or occasionally a few more. Also, most of the Solicitor degree apprenticeships on the Law list are restricted just to London and/or a few other large towns or cities.

Other employers I’m looking out for in the next few weeks include: Ford, IBM, Jaguar Land Rover, Kier, L’Oreal, NatWest Group, Schneider Electric, Transport for London, Troup Bywaters Anders, plus a few more law firms including Irwin Mitchell (from 27/1/25) and Blake Morgan (from 1/2/25).
One more factor that’s important to add here is that some 6th form and college students who do progress to apprenticeships at 18+ will start on a Level 3 programme rather than moving directly on to Level 4 or above. In fact it’s not unusual to find Level 3 apprenticeships that require a minimum of 2 A Levels or equivalent entry qualifications. So in that respect, the range of options available at 18+ is wider than my listings might suggest, and even more so when you take into account that many other employers recruit apprentices as and when vacancies arise, rather than having an annual programme that starts in or around September. Having said that, competition for places on degree or higher apprenticeships can be very intense, especially in the more popular occupations.
Another significant observation I’ve made whilst tracking degree and higher apprenticeships during the past five years is that NHS and other healthcare roles have become increasingly prominent, thanks especially to the NHS Jobs website. However, the majority of NHS vacancies are advertised as and when required and many of them are also best suited to applicants who have at least a few months’ experience, although very occasionally school/college leavers are actually mentioned in the person spec. This helps to explain why NHS roles are not well-represented in my 2025 listings above.
If you’d like to see more detailed data on the range of occupations available at Levels 4 to 7, especially how they compare in terms of volume and how they’re spread geographically, take a look at the cumulative occupational and regional data in my final “Degree & Higher Apprenticeships Overview (Week 256)” blogpost, which you’ll find here: https://alanbullockcareers.com/2024/12/02/week-256-degree-higher-apprenticeships-overview-and-latest-2025-employer-list/
