Bringing academic experts to your learners!
My West Wales correspondent has been in touch again and asked if I would help to spread the word about Aberystwyth University’s latest series of AberWorkshops, which are just starting up. The lists of sample workshops I’ve been sent look fascinating and offer enriching super-curricular insights for students, especially in Years 12 or 13. Being half-Welsh myself, I’m very happy to share the information.
As the uni’s own catchline says, “AberWorkshops are designed to bring Aber’s academic experts to your learners”. They’re available in a variety of different subjects and can be conducted virtually, or face-to-face at your school/college or even on the Aber campus. They’re also flexible in duration, suitable for small or large audiences and in some cases equally relevant to students with prior knowledge of the subject and to those without. Subjects already lined up are listed below, along with examples of the specific workshops available. I’ve also added links to enable readers to find out more about the content and context of each workshop and the department offering it.
All of the workshops are conducted in English, while those that I’ve marked (E/W) are also available in the medium of Welsh. I’m sure the Modern Languages workshops will dip into a bit of German, Spanish or French too.

Special thanks to Marc Pell on Unsplash for the photo, although I had to trim it slightly to fit the page and hence it doesn’t quite do full justice to Aberystwyth’s delightful seafront vistas.
